Intermittent fasting. And no, I don’t mean 10 minutes break between courses…

Right, I have to confess that I have been a foodie. And it did show. And I hated this devilish scale in my bathroom which stubbornly refused to show the numbers I wanted to see. And I have tried many things. And you know what? They all worked. But not for long… And then some months ago I came across intermittent fasting. And this was a love at first sight, at least from my side! Just listen to this: you can eat what you like, you can eat when you like. OK, you may ask, what is the small print? Oh, it’s really a small one: you have to eat all your food in an eight hours window followed by sixteen hours of fasting. But, hey! You sleep eight hours, don’t you? So it is only another eight hours of not eating left! Great..! And look at the benefits: your body burns fat and gets leaner, you eat less as, let’s be honest, it is unlikely you will squeeze the usual amount of food in eight hours gap so you might even loose some weight. There is growing evidence, although further studies are required, that intermittent fasting improves blood pressure and blood sugar levels. There are also various types of intermittent fasting, such as fasting for two days a week or one week a month. I have chosen daily fasting as it suits my lifestyle the best. It is yet to be shown whether all types show the same benefits. But you know what? I simply like it still, or perhaps even more, enjoying my meals. And I see it as a part of healthy lifestyle along with the exercise routine, healthy food and healthy supplements. It all comes as a package and never works alone. (zk)
